In fiscal year 2009, 87 percent of all expenditures went to program services. The percentage spent on in any particular program may vary. Our financial records are audited on an annual basis by an independent certified public accountant from the Washington, DC area. Pueblo a Pueblo, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) organization based in the U.S.
GuideStar
Pueblo a Pueblo has been awarded the GuideStar Exchange Seal. The GuideStar Exchange is an initiative designed to connect nonprofits with current and potential supporters. This allows us to share up-to-date information with GuideStar's vast on-line audience of grant makers and individual donors.
Better Business Bureau
Pueblo a Pueblo meets the BBB Wise Giving Alliance's Standards for Charity Accountability. These standards were developed to assist donors in making sound giving decisions and to foster public confidence in charitable organizations. The standards seek to encourage fair and honest solicitation practices, to promote ethical conduct by charitable organizations and to advance support of philanthropy.
GreatNonProfits
GreatNonprofits makes it easy for individuals who have direct experience with a charitable organization to share their knowledge so that others can discover the group as well. Reviews and ratings are posted by people who have been touched by a nonprofit and want to share their story about it. The site includes stories of people who have volunteered or donated to nonprofits as well as stories of people who have benefitted from their services. GreatNonprofits has received media coverage in Newsweek, the Chronicle of Philanthropy, Alliance magazine, and on NPR.
Financial Information
Pueblo a Pueblo is committed to keeping overhead low. In 2009, non-program expenses amounted to less than 15% of revenues. We keep overhead low by using donated office space, pro bono professional services, and modern technologies to reduce the costs of communications, financial management, donor relations and fundraising.
Our goal is to allocate every dollar possible to our programs in Guatemala.
