My Friends and I would like to help the Capital Campaign

campaign goal
Pueblo a Pueblo Inc. and Asociación K’aslimaal have established the goal of raising $700,000 to build the new permanent Hospitalito Atitlán. The people of Santiago are committed to this project as they were when K’aslimaal asked the town citizens to help renovate the facility in Panabaj. The municipalidad, soccer teams, student groups, churches, civic groups and individuals, young and old all gave countless hours of their mostly unskilled labor to renovate the facility. Many have little to offer outside of manual labor, and that they gave in abundance. The town is prepared to begin again to work for their dream of having a much needed hospital for their community.

With the assistance of generous donors, K’aslimaal has purchased land in a geographically safe area of Santiago Atitlán.. The Capital Campaign will pay for building materials, skilled labor and technical/medical expertise and equipment. It is envisioned that the new Hospitalito will include: Emergency room, outpatient clinic, surgical suite, birthing rooms, 16 bed - inpatient ward, pharmacy, laboratory, x-ray and a maternal/child heath care center.

Fundraising Events
Please consider assisting the people of Santiago Atilán by initiating a fundraising event. Already a small girl in Canada organized her classroom to hold a bake sale, the citizens of Vashon Island, Washington have held several events, countless church groups of every denomination have made contributions, a woman in Vermont gave her guipile (handwoven indigenous blouse) collection to her friends who donated money. College students in Ohio held a party to raise funds. Perhaps your civic or social group is looking for a way to make a difference. Our staff will be glad to provide you with audio visual and written materials.

Donate-a-Room in Honor or Memory of a loved one
K’aslimaal is accepting donations to build specific room that will be dedicated with a small plaque to the person of you’re your choice.

Individual Donations
Building the permanent Hospitalito depends upon the generosity of many small and a few large donors. No gift is too small and every contribution helps us to reach our goal.

In a world that is filled with so many in need and so many worthy causes, the people of Santiago Atitlán receive little attention. If you have read this far, perhaps you are one of the people that Margaret Mead speaks of: “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.”
