Our mission

We believe that everyone should have the right to health, education, and financial security.

Pueblo a Pueblo strives to improve the livelihoods of families in vulnerable communities in Guatemala through school- and community-based programs.

In doing so, we actively seek the involvement and leadership of community members -- because we believe that true change must be led from within.

Our programs

Maternal and child health

Since 2006, Pueblo a Pueblo has been working to provide mothers and their children the medical and educational support they need to survive the most vulnerable periods of pregnancy and early childhood.

Education

We strive to help vulnerable communities in Guatemala access alternative sources of income and strengthen their economic security, through entrepreneurial and leadership programs.

Sustainable livelihoods

We provide scholarships, school supplies, and tutoring support for students in order to ensure that all children have access to life-changing education and a brighter future.

We believe that health, education, and sustainable livelihoods are closely connected and impact each other. That’s why we address these requirements in all the communities where we operate, to ensure that everyone we work with can live happier, healthier and more productive lives.

Our story

Pueblo a Pueblo was established in 2001 to address the widespread poverty, illiteracy and poor health afflicting the communities surrounding the Tz’utujil community of Santiago Atitlán, Guatemala — one of the largest indigenous Maya communities in the Americas.

Since then, Pueblo a Pueblo has evolved and expanded to directly target agricultural communities in rural Guatemala.

Our name, which can be interpreted as “village to village” or “people to people,” celebrates the bond between local and international supporters and the indigenous families of Guatemala.

Support our mission

With your help, we can continue building brighter futures for indigenous communities in rural Guatemala. Every contribution—whether it’s your time, financial support, or sharing our work—helps sustain programs that promote health, education, and economic opportunity.
